The NFL has responded to claims of the Wildcard matchup between the Buffalo Bills and Pittsburgh Steelers getting moved to Cleveland.

Given that the playoffs typically begin in January, there’s not much the NFL can do to avoid poor weather conditions. Still, they always host the Super Bowl at a location where the elements won’t be a problem.

 

The league didn’t have to harbor snowstorm concerns for a long time but, with Buffalo turning things around and becoming a consistent postseason presence since 2018, it’s now a cause for worry.

Saturday’s showdown between the Kansas City Chiefs and Miami Dolphins is tipped to be one of the coldest in NFL history while the Bills-Steelers fixture could be affected by snowy conditions, the likes of which are expected to make travel very difficult. Winds are also predicted to top 50 MP/H.

With all this being taken into consideration, a Pittsburgh radio host claimed to have spoken to someone within the Browns organization who told them the league had informed the team that their stadium needs to be ready to host said game in case of an emergency announcement in Buffalo.

 

A spokesperson for the NFL has denied that such a plan is in place. So, until further notice, fans should keep up in their preparations to brave the icy conditions.

The game is scheduled for 2:00 PM ET this Sunday.
