Jason Whitlock calls Caitlin Clark a ‘spoiled baby’ and insists she risks ruining the WNBA’s newfound popularity if she carries on
Conservative pundit Jason Whitlock has hit out at Caitlin Clark in a surprising turn after being a steadfast supporter of the Indiana Fever guard in her rookie season.
Whitlock has been one of the most prominent people stoking the flames in the Caitlin Clark-Angel Reese rivalry – with the former ESPN columnist almost always siding with Clark.
On Sunday, the Indiana Fever played at home against the Dallas Wings. As pointed out by sports journalist Christine Brennan, it came on a day where the hometown Indianapolis Colts were playing on the road in Green Bay and on a busy NFL Sunday.
Yet, Gainbridge Fieldhouse was packed – with Brennan remarking on Twitter, ‘We have never seen anything like this in women’s sports.’
Whitlock then decided to chime in, mocking Clark in the process.

Conservative pundit Jason Whitlock went off on Caitlin Clark in a series of tweets
One of them called the Indiana Fever rookie star a ‘spoiled baby on the court’
‘And if we don’t get her to stop acting like a spoiled baby on the court, it’s going to go away,’ Whitlock replied.
Throughout the day, in a series of tweets, Whitlock criticized Clark for her ‘lack of emotional control’ – highlighting one play where the Fever guard didn’t get a foul call she thought she deserved.
‘This is how Caitlin Clark’s lack of emotional control and constant whining hurt the Fever,’ Whitlock wrote. ‘She was not fouled. Chose to whine. No hustle on D. Easy 2 points for Dallas.’
Whitlock continued his criticism of Clark, tweeting, ‘It’s official. Caitlin Clark is LeBron James. She just laid a defender out with a Derrick Henry stiff-arm and the refs didn’t even consider blowing a whistle.
‘Plus she whines way too much. I can’t take it. Too entitled. She hooked me on the Fever. Kelsey Mitchell is my fav player.’
He added in another tweet, ‘Someone should have warned the Caitlin Clark fans who follow me that I criticize idols. Magic Johnson was my favorite athlete as a kid. He went into television and was bad at it, and I started ripping him. That’s me. If you decide to refollow, you’ve been warned.’
Clark finished the game shooting 10-for-22 with 35 points, two rebounds, eight assists and three steals – along with five turnovers.
In that process, she surpassed Seimone Augustus for the most points scored by a rookie in their debut season.

Clark set another WNBA record for the most points scored in a rookie season on Sunday
It’s unclear what could have possibly led to such a heel-turn from Whitlock when it comes to Clark, but it coincides with the Fever guard inadvertently wading into political waters this week.
Clark clicked ‘like’ on Taylor Swift’s Instagram post that endorsed Kamala Harris for President – which came out after last week’s Presidential debate.
Right-leaning supporters of Clark lambasted her for clicking that button.
‘You just couldn’t keep your politics out of sports!’ an angry fan wrote on one of Clark’s weeks-old Instagram posts. ‘You have just lost millions of supporters!! #Trump 2024.’
Several responders accused Clark of supporting trans women in female sports.
‘You’re a female athlete!!’ one woman wrote on Instagram. ‘Why would you support a party that are (sic) allowing men to play in women’s sports?’
Others slammed Clark for weighing in on politics at all, even if her comment amounted to a single ‘like’ on Instagram.
‘Just play basketball and build your brand,’ wrote one fan. ‘A brand that the entire country can love. Stay out of politics, your brand will suffer. You are young…ask your close friends and family for advice….’

Swift’s endorsement was posted minutes after the conclusion of the Presidential debate
Clark defended the ‘like’ a day after the post was made, addressing it in a pre-game press conference – saying that she wasn’t exactly endorsing Harris, more that she was encouraging people to get out and vote.
‘I think for myself because I have this amazing platform,’ Clark began on why she liked the ‘Anti-Hero’ singer’s post. ‘So I think the biggest thing would be just encouraging people to register to vote.’
‘I think for myself it’s the second time I can vote in an election at 22. I could vote when I was 18. So, I think that’s the biggest thing I can do with the platform that I have. And that’s the same thing Taylor did.’
‘And I think continue to educate yourself with the candidates that we have and the policies that they’re supporting.’
