Nicki Minaj recently went on a charity spree, spontaneously offering to pay off the college tuition and student loans of her fans a few weeks ago. Her generosity, it seems, wasn’t a one-off.
For the past few years, Minaj, through her pastor Lydia Woodson-Sloley, has sent money to villages in India. The support has been given through the Pearl Foundation, Woodson-Sloley told INSIDER.
Minaj’s efforts have helped build infrastructure for different villages.
“There are two Computer Centers one in the village of Ennore and one in the village of Kolathur,” Woodson-Sloley told INSIDER in an email. “The Sewing Center is in Thiruvalluvar Nagar Ennore. The Water Well is in the village of Atipattu.”
Minaj revealed her work in an Instagram post on Sunday, with a video of villagers thanking the congregation for their work in building a clean water well. The rapper said of her motivations behind the charity, “We complain about the most ridiculous little things when some ppl don’t even have clean water. Blessings to India.”
“This is the kind of thing that makes me feel the most proud,” Minaj wrote.
In another post, Nicki posted a picture on Instagram of a prayer ceremony and said she was “proud of our brothers and sisters in India.”
“God is so good,” Minaj wrote. “Their desire was to have water wells & places where they can worship, places where they can learn technology, computers, reading, etc. We’re just getting started. These women are us and we are them.”
“Our work is far from done. I’ll tell you guys more about my charity work in the near future in case you’d like to be a part of it”, Minaj reportedly plans to release more details about her charity work so that fans can become involved as well.
The renowned artist has earlier been involved in other charity work as well, and recently helped students with their education loans using Twitter. She is known for her huge heart and generosity and has developed a reputation for helping people in any way she can.
