Angel Reese plays nice and seeks Caitlin Clark's cooperation to help her with a premeditated end

he discussion about salaries in the WNBA is gaining significant attention, especially after the 2024 rookie class highlighted the issue. Caitlin Clark‘s modest salary of $76,000 stirred outrage among fans, and Angel Reese, earning $73,000, has also felt the pinch. Despite their rivalry on the court, Reese recently expressed interest in working with Clark to tackle this ongoing issue, revealing the financial struggles faced by WNBA players.

In a recent Instagram Live, the Indiana Fever forward shared that her WNBA salary isn’t even enough to cover her rent. Despite the competitive tension between her and Clark, Reese voiced her hopes for collaboration between the two, saying, “Me and Caitlin have been playing against each other since we were kids.” Their 2023 NCAA Championship game, which drew nearly 10 million viewers, marked a pivotal moment in women’s basketball, cementing them as key figures in the sport.

From Rivals to Potential Allies

Reese and Clark have become icons in the WNBA, but their rivalry runs deeper than just the NCAA finals. The moment Reese pointed to her ring finger during LSU’s championship win became a symbol of their competitive nature. However, the Sky forward emphasized that their rivalry highlights broader issues in women’s sports, including how trash talk is perceived differently between male and female athletes.

“We’re both great competitors, and we’ve brought a lot of fans to this league,” Reese said. “I hope one day we can be teammates.” While the two may only share the court during events like the WNBA All-Star Game or potentially for Team USA at the 2028 LA Olympics, there’s the possibility they could join forces to combat the pay disparity in the WNBA.

In her interview, Reese reflected on her impressive name, image, and likeness (NIL) career, where her valuation soared to $1 million. She credits her mother for guiding her through financial decisions and ensuring smart investments. As for the future, both Reese and Clark have expressed their commitment to the WNBA despite the pay gap, and neither has shown interest in playing overseas for higher earnings.

As fans and players alike continue to advocate for fair compensation in the WNBA, Reese and Clark could be at the forefront of this movement. Although some critics argue that the league’s current size and revenue may not support larger salaries yet, it’s clear that the conversation has only just begun – and these two stars are ready to push for change.
