Football fans are ripping on Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur for some strange comments he made on kicker Anders Carlson.

During the Packers-San Francisco 49ers Divisional Round tilt, FOX sideline reporter Tom Rinaldi passed along a message from LaFleur on his rookie kicker. LaFleur simply stated, “When he goes out there, I just pray, guys.”

Fans teed off on LaFleur for making such an honest admission. After all, it’s peculiar to use a kicker that you clearly have no faith in.

With just over six minutes remaining, Carlson missed a 41-yard field goal wide left that would have put the Packers up seven. Sure enough, the 49ers marched down the field for the game-winning touchdown, and Jordan Love’s costly interception sealed the deal for the 49ers.

It was a heartbreaking way to end their season, no doubt, but Saturday’s loss doesn’t take away the Packers’ success this year. They embarrassed the Dallas Cowboys in the Wild Card Round and were oh-so-close to upsetting the overwhelming favorites.
