Patrick Mahomes’ Clear Message to 31 Teams Over Controversial Officiating as NFL Clears Stance on Chiefs vs. Texans Penalties

The biggest question around the NFL world today is about the Chiefs. Everyone is eagerly waiting to see whether Mahomes and Co. will do the unimaginable and achieve that incredible 3-peat. They certainly seem to be on track and have been playing like champions, showing no signs of stopping. In their game against the Texans, they again showed why they are the champions and won 23-14. With so much success, though, there is always some criticism.

Following the Chiefs’ victory against the Texans, there have been several people who have commented on the officiating of the game. There have been ongoing conversations about the referees allegedly favoring the Chiefs. Well, Patrick Mahomes has finally shared his thoughts on all this. Recently on The Drive with Carrington Harrison, the Chiefs’ QB said, ” Yeah, I mean, I’ve kind of learned that no matter what happens during the game, something’s gonna come up about if you win and continue to win. So I don’t really pay attention to it.”

Mahomes expressed that he believes officials are always doing their best and that there will inevitably be some calls that people disagree with. He also clearly mentioned that there is much more that affects the outcome of the game, it is not just these calls. Mahomes said, “There were a lot of other plays that really decided the outcome of that football game.” Well, Texans fans won’t necessarily agree with the same.

One can debate about it as much as they like, but the final call is of the referee and the NFL. While the ref took the call on the field, the NFL has now supported the same. NFL Senior Vice President of Officiating Walt Anderson talked about the same on NFL GameDay and cleared their stance on it all. Well, with that said, like their quarterback, the Chiefs will be ignoring the noise and staying focused on their upcoming game against the Bills.

Can Mahomes and the Chiefs achieve the 3-peat?

Mahomes and the Chiefs had another great season and have shown their championship mentality needed to achieve success. Does that mean it will be a walk in the park for them to get that coveted 3-peat? Well, no, not at all. Firstly, the Bills, Commanders, and Eagles are all great teams and can certainly defeat anyone on their day. Secondly, some issues might hamper the Chiefs and they need to deal with them before the Bills game. The Bills are one of just 2 teams to defeat the Chiefs in the regular season. In that game, there was one major flaw that hampered the Chiefs’ play.

HC Andy Reid also talked about the same. He said, “One of the things we’ll keep working on is you’ve got to be able to get off the field on third downs.” For anyone who watched the previous encounter between the two teams, this statement will make much sense as the Bills converted 9/15 third downs last time around. Reid and the Chiefs will certainly need to be prepared for it if they wish to reach the Super Bowl.

In the past 2 seasons, the Chiefs have shown their ability to overcome any obstacle. The team has faced tough challenges at times but has emerged as champions on all occasions.
