Patrick Mahomes might be sleeping on the couch for a while, which is not the place anyone wants to be when nursing an injury.

The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback spoke to reporters on Monday ahead of Super Bowl 57, in which his team will be facing the Philadelphia Eagles, and was asked about his Valentine’s Day plans.

Turns out, he had none at the time.

“I didn’t even notice it was coming up,” he replied (H/T Larry Brown Sports). “Don’t tell her I said that, but I’ll make sure I’ll have some Valentine’s Day plans now.”

Mahomes could have been joking about forgetting the holiday. But, even if he was serious, Brittany should certainly understand. The man is preparing for the biggest game of his life to date, plus he’s also racing to be as fit as possible for the clash after injuring his ankle during the divisional round.

While his wife might be a tad upset, Mahomes coaches should be proud of him. Valentine’s Day will come around every year, but opportunities to win the Super Bowl do not.

In any case, the holiday will be two days after the Super Bowl, which should still leave him with plenty of time to set things up, more so if the Chiefs lose and have nothing to celebrate.
