Patrick Mahomes’ father Pat Mahomes Sr. was arrested over the weekend by police in Tyler, Texas, on a charge of driving while intoxicated.

Mahomes Sr. was charged and then released on a $10,000 bond.

The arrest came eight days before Mahomes Sr.’s son, Patrick, is set to play in his fourth career Super Bowl against the San Francisco 49ers.

This was just unfortunate timing, but it appears his son is not fazed by it.

The Kansas City Chiefs sent out a video of the team landing in Las Vegas on Sunday night.

The Chiefs will stay at The Westin Lake Las Vegas Resort & Spa. The 49ers will call the Hilton Lake Las Vegas Resort & Spa home away from home. Both teams are many miles away from the famed Strip to stop anything bad from happening so close to the game.

Mahomes Sr. has frequented Chiefs games and has been a popular figure in pictures with his son and other players.

The 53-year-old Mahomes Sr. had his second DWI charge in 2018. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 40 days in county jail. He would serve those days on the weekends from February 2019 through February 2020.

If convicted on the new charge, which is a third-degree felony, Mahomes Sr. could face two to 10 years in prison.

It is currently unknown if he will be in Vegas to watch the big game.
