Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid was able to recruit star free agent wide receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown thanks to his grade-A recruiting skills that seemingly didn’t take too much effort.

On Thursday evening, news broke that Brown was joining the defending Super Bowl champions on a one-year deal, which the star wide receiver later confirmed on social media. According to multiple reports, the contract carries a max value of $11 million.

Following the news, Brown posted the text message he received from coach Reid that helped seal the deal. The legendary Chiefs head coach told the veteran wide receiver to “think Red today, KC Red with diamonds!!!”.

Sign, sealed and delivered.

Here’s how Hollywood responded to the message:

Brown heads to Kansas City following a two-year stint with the Arizona Cardinals that was marred by injuries. With Brown and quarterback Kyler Murray both missing chunks of the 2022 and 2023 seasons, the former was unable to build off his career 2021 season with the Baltimore Ravens.

Brown caught 91 passes for 1,008 yards and six touchdowns in the 2021 season. He was traded to the Cardinals at the 2022 NFL Draft, but injuries limited Hollywood to 26 games over his two seasons with the franchise. In his two-year stint with Arizona, Brown caught 118 passes for 1,283 yards and seven touchdowns.

Now, the 2019 first-round pick gets the chance to reset his value with the league’s best player in Patrick Mahomes. Indeed, the defending champions just got that much more dangerous.
