LSU Lady Tigers’ HC, Kim Mulkey, celebrated her 62nd birthday on May 17. Mulkey’s daughter, Makenzie Fuller, shared a picture from her mother’s special day on her Instagram story. The snap showed a happy Mulkey with her two grandchildren, Kannon Reid and Sage Avery, beside a special cake with the icing message, “Happy Birthday YaYa,” referring to their grandma fondly.

“Happy Birthday to the best YaYa around ❤️🎉”

Recently, Mulkey celebrated Mother’s Day with her daughter and grandchildren. She wore a sequinned white coat with the word “champion” spelled on the sleeve.

Mulkey often spends time with her grandchildren and posts several snaps of them to her social media accounts. Kannon and Sage sometimes visit her games and can be seen sitting on the sidelines. They were also present at the celebration of her 700th career win as a head coach.

Kim Mulkey is one of the most successful college basketball coaches and has also tasted success as a women’s basketball player. Before coaching at LSU, she was the head coach at Baylor, where she coached her daughter, Makenzie Fuller, for four seasons.

Kim’s daughter started her playing career in the 2010–2011 season, averaging 3.1 points, 0.8 rebounds, 0.5 assists, 0.2 steals and 0.1 blocks in 7.4 minutes per game. In the following season, she averaged 1.9 points, 1.0 rebounds, and 0.2 steals in 9.1 minutes per game as the Baylor Bears won the 2012 national title.

As a junior, Makenzie averaged 2.3 points. 0.7 rebounds, 0.7 assists, and 0.3 steals in 10.3 minutes per game. She had her best season when she entered the starting lineup, averaging 7.4 points, 3.9 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 0.7 steals in 30.9 games per minute.

Kim Mulkey has been a decorated coach, known for turning programs around as soon as she joins them. She helped the Lady Techsters win an NCAA title in 1988 and had a record of 430-68. At Baylor, she led the team to three national titles and achieved a record of 632-104. With the LSU Lady Tigers, she won one NCAA title and has a record of 78-12 in her three-year tenure.
