Toronto Raptors forward Scottie Barnes has sustained a fracture to the third metacarpal bone of his left hand after the game against the Golden State Warriors. He injured his hand late in the first half when he smacked it against the rim during an attempted block. With just under two minutes remaining in the second quarter, he was substituted and headed straight to the locker room for treatment. The third quarter was opened by Kelly Olynyk in Barnes’ stead. The Raptors have announced that there is a timeline for his return, as of now.

Barnes played 16 minutes and scored just 10 points(along with six rebounds). This snapped his career-best streak of five double-doubles. This season, Barnes has averaged 20 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 6.1 assists per game. He has been one of the few shining lights for the Raptors, who are undergoing a very disappointing season with a record of 22 wins and 38 losses.

On Friday, the Golden State Warriors extended their winning run on the road to eight games by defeating the Toronto Raptors 120-105.

At the break, Golden State was behind 64-61, but in the third quarter(as usual), they outscored Toronto 32-19. The Raptors had missed six of their last seven shots and were shooting 5 for 19. During that time, Curry scored nine points.

He ended up scoring 25 and extended his team’s streak on the road. He was helped by Jonathan Kuminga who scored 24 points. The game surely became much worse for Toronto after Scottie Barnes’ departure.

The Raptors will face the Charlotte Hornets next while the Golden State Warriors will face the Boston Celtics in their next game.
