Rasmus Hojlund responds to reports Man Utd teammates won’t pass to him with cryptic 10-word Instagram message

The United star has hit back.

Rasmus Hojlund hit back at reports that his Manchester United teammates won’t pass to him by posting a cryptic message on Instagram.

Man United beat Newcastle United 3-2 on Wednesday in their final game at Old Trafford this season, keeping alive hopes of playing European football next season.

Young midfielder Kobbie Mainoo put Erik ten Hag’s side ahead, but Anthony Gordon drew the visitors level shortly after half-time.

Amad Diallo restored the advantage before Hojlund grabbed the third just two minutes after coming off the bench.

It’s been an interesting few days for the young Danish striker, after reports emerged that his teammates were becoming reluctant to pass to him.

According to the Manchester Evening News’ United reporter Samuel Luckhurst, a club source claimed that certain players were unconvinced by Hojlund.

The 21-year-old had scored just one goal in his previous 10 games before Wednesday night, so he couldn’t have picked a better time to respond to his critics with a goal.

After the match, Hojlund took to Instagram to hit back at the reports from earlier in the week.

He posted an image of him ‘shushing’ the away fans at Old Trafford while celebrating his goal, alongside the caption: “Just making sure the number on my back was visible.”

Hojlund endured a tough start to life at United following his £72 million move from Atalanta last summer, as he failed to score in his first 14 Premier League outings.

After ending his drought in December the youngster scored seven goals in six league games, but in the last three months he has netted just twice in all competitions.

Hojlund will look to inspire United to victory at Brighton on the final day, with three points a necessity if they are to qualify for Europe via their league position.

If they fail to win, then United will have to beat Manchester City in the FA Cup final to secure a place in next season’s Europa League.
