WNBA Twitter criticized Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese for featuring Kayla Nicole, the ex-girlfriend of Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, on her “Unapologetically Angel” podcast.

Among the many topics they discussed was how Nicole managed the backlash after her ex began dating one of the music industry’s biggest stars, Taylor Swift. However, fans criticized Angel Reese for the recent podcast episode, with some claiming she is trying to gain fame by leveraging the names of Caitlin Clark and Taylor Swift.

“Really trying to cling on to CC and T Swift 😂,” one fan said.

During the episode, Angel Reese told Nicole that she liked her relationship with Kelce.

“I loved you guys together, just saying,” Reese said on her podcast (20:13 mark).

 

This comment irked some fans.

“Angel so weird for that ‘I loved yall together”’ when they both done moved on,” one fan said. “And Kayla calling her ex new gf a ‘situation’? Girl stop being this way.”

“What a weird & unrespectful coment @angelreeseshow ‘I love you both together’ knowing that there is new women (sic) in his life right now,” another added.

Other fans criticized Reese for the topics she touched with Nicole, with one accusing her of being so “desperate for views” that she resorts to discussing gossip on her podcast:

“When you are so desperate for views you jump into the trash. Gossip is the hilariously sad way of trying to boost your exposure. As fake as those damnn eyelashes.”

“He is head over heels in love with Taylor Swift. Never even gave Kayla a second thought to this day. Truly pathetic. And Angel go practice or some shit that’s why Caitlin be hoopin circles around yo a** now cause you tryna be cool instead of in that gym! Git!

One fan also called out the two for seemingly playing the victim:

“How desperate are you Angel? Both you girls love to play the victim. This couple has been broken up for years and this is what you invite Kayla on to talk about.”

On the podcast, Kayla Nicole opened up to Angel Reese about facing online hate since her split with Travis Kelce and his subsequent relationship with Taylor Swift:

“I would be lying if I said that that level of hate and online chaos doesn’t impact me, because it does, even to this day,” Nicole said (18:15 mark).

“You can go to my most recent post and there will be people debating each other why I’m worthless and I’ll never be a talented person and I have no career.”

Despite this, she mentioned that she has accepted the “unfortunate” reality that a certain level of fame draws out negativity.

“It has nothing to do with me. I think that there’s something about that level of fame that attracts crazy people. It’s unfortunate, because I’ve never done anything to warrant that kind of backlash,” Nicole said.

Nicole and Kelce were in a relationship from 2017 until 2022. The Chiefs star began dating Swift in 2023.
