The San Francisco 49ers were reportedly contacted by a top AFC team about a possible trade involving superstar wide receiver Deebo Samuel.

According to a report from Jason La Canfora of The Washington Post and “Inside Access” on 105.7 The Fan, the Baltimore Ravens “reached out to” San Francisco to see if Samuel was available in a trade.

However, the 49ers apparently told the Ravens it’s “a no, at least for now.”

The 28-year-old Samuel has two seasons left on the three-year, $71.55 million extension he signed in the 2022 offseason.

With the 49ers up against the cap, and with fellow star wideout Brandon Aiyuk entering the final year of his rookie deal, there have been rumors about GM John Lynch potentially trading one of his top offensive players.

Samuel requested a trade from the 49ers following a career year in the 2022 offseason, but the club remained patient and managed to work out a new deal with him anyway.

The Ravens have already made one giant splash on offense, signing two-time rushing champion Derrick Henry to a two-year deal. A do-it-all playmaker like Samuel (4,122 receiving yards, 1,007 career rushing yards) could certainly fit nicely in a Lamar Jackson-led offense.

If the 49ers were to shop Samuel, they’d have to have a quality replacement option in place. After all, trading a player of Samuel’s caliber doesn’t exactly help their chances of getting over the Super Bowl hump.
