REPORT: Buffalo Bills Told Stefon Diggs They Would Trade Him To Any NFL Team Except For One /d

The Buffalo Bills were reportedly open to trading superstar wide receiver Stefon Diggs to 30 NFL teams, with an archrival club being the exception.

On Wednesday, the Bills traded Stefon Diggs and two late-round selections to the Houston Texans in exchange for a 2025 third-round pick. The Bills will be taking on a massive dead money hit of $31 million following the trade.

Speaking on “PFT Live”, Chris Simms reported that the Bills “allowed” Diggs to explore a trade anywhere except the Kansas City Chiefs, the same club that has eliminated Buffalo in three of the past four postseasons:

“From what I do know, he was allowed to seek a trade from anybody in the league except the Kansas City Chiefs…That’s what I’ve been told by multiple people…He was allowed to do that, the Chiefs were the only team…

The Bills are taking a risk in trading Diggs to a rival AFC team that figures to contend for the Super Bowl next year. Houston won 10 games last season and advanced to the Divisional Round, but Diggs’ arrival just might help them reach that next level in 2024.

But it’s not surprising that the Bills were reportedly adamant about not trading Diggs to Kansas City. Buffalo has not been able to solve Patrick Mahomes and company in the postseason, and trading a top-10 wideout to the defending Super Bowl champions would have been a giant mistake by Bills GM Brandon Beane.

Stefon Diggs & The Bills: A Case Of “What If”

As great as Diggs was with Josh Allen (four straight seasons of 100-plus catches, over 1,100 yards and at least eight touchdowns), it’s always going to feel like this Buffalo team greatly underachieved with No. 14 in the fold.

Diggs put up all-world numbers with Allen in the regular season, but the Bills only advanced past the Divisional Round once with this duo. And Diggs had a frustrating habit of not showing up in the postseason, either.

It also won’t help Buffalo fans in being reminded that the 2020 first-round pick they gave up to Minnesota for Diggs turned out to be Justin Jefferson, the best WR in the game today.
