CBS Sports has reported that the quarterback, who is expected to be the first-overall pick come April, will not participate in medical examinations with teams.
The publication notes that one league source is of the view that Williams is the first invitee to attend the event after rejecting medicals, which are “typically considered to be one of the most essential elements of the combine.”
“In accepting his invitation, Williams also did not sign off on having his medical records shared with all 32 teams, sources say,” the report adds.
Williams has also opted out of on-field testing at the combine, which is not uncommon among top-ranked QBs. To date, he hasn’t signed with an agent and isn’t expected to before the draft.
While he won’t be submitting any medical information at the event, the former Heisman will perform medicals with individual teams during his visits. He met with the Bears on Wednesday night in Indianapolis and is scheduled to meet with the Commanders, Raiders, Vikings, Falcons, Patriots, Jets, and Giants, according to a source.
