OJ Simpson had a very unusual request for all of his visitors in the days leading up to his death.

The former NFL running back, who starred for the Buffalo Bills and San Francisco 49ers after a standout career at USC, passed away this week at the age of 76 following a battle with cancer.

Simpson’s family announced on Thursday that their father had died via a social media post in which they noted that he was with his children and grandchildren at the time of his passing.

According to a report from TMZ, as many as 30-50 people came to visit the former football star while he was under hospice care at his Nevada home, and they all had to sign a non-disclosure agreement before they could get to see him. The publications also claim that cell phones were not allowed into the master bedroom where he was.

The NDAs are understood to have extended to friends, family, and medical personnel.

Simpson was with his four children  – including the two he had with ex-wife Nicole Brown – and his grandchildren when he died.

OJ Simpson Spent Nine Years In Prison

OJ Simpson was charged with Brown’s murder, as well as the killing of her friend, Ron Goldman, in 1994. The media closely followed his trial, but he was eventually acquitted, with a jury finding him not guilty in 1995.

He was found liable for the deaths following Brown’s estate proceeding with an unlawful death suit in 1997, however.

Simpson still ended up spending nine years in prison for a 2007 robbery and kidnapping incident after forcibly retrieving sports memorabilia he said was stolen from him. He was released from prison in 2017.

Most recently, he made weekly appearances on Cam’ron and Mase’s ‘It Is What It Is’ podcast as a football analyst. The rappers released a tribute video to honor him on Friday.
