The New York Giants already know who they want to draft at quarterback, according to NFL insider Connor Hughes.

The Giants have the No. 6 overall pick in the upcoming draft and are believed to be keen on a replacement for Daniel Jones.

Hughes is reporting that they want former Michigan Wolverines star J.J. McCarthy.

McCarthy just helped Michigan win a title but he isn’t as hyped as the likes of Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, Jayden Daniels, or Michael Penix Jr. going into the draft. That’s likely because Jim Harbaugh preferred to run the football, but there’s hardly any denying McCarthy’s ability.

One NFL scout has declared he could be as good as Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow if he plays in a pass-first offense.

Per Hughes, “The buzz is there that he’s the player the Giants want.” He’s also reported that many NFL execs have spoken highly of McCarthy, with one claiming he will be a “better pro than college player” as he has everything when it comes to physicality and is also very coachable.

The Giants are expected to move on from Daniel Jones, who has dealt with multiple injuries throughout his career. The QB earned a massive $160 million contract after helping the Giants reach the playoffs in 2022 but did little to justify it last season.

NY has since traded for Drew Lock, who was reportedly told he will have a chance to compete with Jones for the starting position.
