ESPN is looking to shake things up this offseason and Robert Griffin III could be the odd man out.

According to The Athletic’s Andrew Marchand, ESPN is “aggressively pursuing” former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce for its ‘Monday Night Countdown’ show. The pursuit of him means Robert Griffin III’s spot is in jeopardy of being taken, according to the report from The Athletic.

Kelce has already been dominating the podcast charts with the “New Heights” show with his brother Travis and now that he has headed off into retirement, being on National television might be the next move for him in his future.

Kelce would be a natural fit on the “ESPN Monday Night Countdown” pre-game show that frequently features star ex-players.

Marchand also noted that ESPN isn’t alone in trying to land Jason Kelce as “NBC, CBS, and Amazon Prime Video all have interest” in the future Hall of Famer. He is as famous as he’s ever been since his brother is connected to Taylor Swift. He would bring thousands, if not millions of more eyes to any program that he is on which is an added bonus to any network.

ESPN Monday Night Football Set Many Records For Viewership During 2023 Season

ESPN Monday Night Football had a good year in 2023 for multiple broadcasts.

ESPN’s 2023 Monday Night Football season debut was a record breaker, as more than 22.6 million viewers watched the Buffalo Bills at the New York Jets that was supposed to feature Aaron Rodgers all game before he got injured four plays in. Monday Night Football with Peyton and Eli on ESPN2 added to the record books with an audience of 1.52 million.

ESPN’s Monday Night Football presentation of the Philadelphia Eagles at the Seattle Seahawks in December delivered an audience of more than 19.4 million viewers, becoming the most-watched Week 15 MNF game in the ESPN era. It ranked as Monday Night Football’s fourth most-watched edition of the season and ESPN’s seventh most-watched game since 2006.

Football is king and shall remain that way no matter what teams are playing.
