REPORT: Surprising Team Is Looking To Trade Up To Select Georgia Superstar TE Brock Bowers /d

An interesting AFC team is reportedly trying to move up into the top-10 in order to select Georgia star tight end Brock Bowers.

The 21-year-old Brock Bowers is far-and-away the No. 1 tight end prospect in this class. Many scouts and analysts view him as a top-five player in the 2024 NFL Draft, but tight ends are hardly taken that early. As such, it’s tough to project where exactly he’ll land.

According to a report from Kelsey Kramer of A to Z Sports, the Indianapolis Colts are eyeing a move into the top-10 so that they can select Bowers. The AFC South club owns the No. 15 selection:

“In fact, a source close to Georgia has shared with A to Z Sports that they are hearing the Colts are a team that’s looking to trade up into the top 10 for the former Bulldogs star.

Indianapolis has never traded up in the first round under general manager Chris Ballard, however, Bowers would be worth the jump as an elite playmaker and pro-ready tight end.”

The Colts haven’t used a first-round pick on a tight end since 2003, when they selected future Pro Bowler Dallas Clark with the No. 24 selection. Clark was a key cog in the Indy offense under Peyton Manning, helping them to a Super Bowl 41 championship in the 2006 season.

Realistically, the earliest Bowers would probably go is fifth overall to the Los Angeles Chargers. Even then, the Chargers could be more keen on adding a wide receiver like Marvin Harrison Jr., Rome Odunze or Malik Nabers.

The New York Giants (No. 6), Tennessee Titans (No. 7), Chicago Bears (No. 9) and New York Jets (No. 10) are also candidates who could have an eye on Bowers.

The 6-foot-4, 240-pound Brock Bowers led the Bulldogs to consecutive national championships in the 2021 and 2022 seasons. Last year, he hauled in 56 receptions for 714 yards and six touchdowns.

Brock Bowers Could Take The Colts Offense To Another Level

The Colts already have a nice offensive nucleus in place with dual-threat quarterback Anthony Richardson, 2021 rushing champion Jonathan Taylor and superstar wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr.

If they could somehow land Bowers and add him to the mix, the potential for this offense would be sky-high. Bowers is a crafty route-runner with great hands who can line up anywhere on the field, not to mention how virtually unstoppable he is in the red zone.
