Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark has reached such a level of popularity that many of her stats will be cherry-picked in order to make her look even better. But her assist totals are legitimately staggering. The online account StatMamba pointed out one factoid when it comes to Clark’s dimes that is particularly mind-blowing. According to them, CC has passed over 75% of players in WNBA history with her passes, already.

This stat is particularly bonkers given Caitlin has only played 26 career games. I attempted to confirm it via the league’s official page and Clark is currently ranked 268th all-time with 213 assists. Their list only goes to 695 players, but also ends with those who registered at least two assists, meaning anyone who had one or zero didn’t make the cut. So it appears the number is very close to accurate if not spot on.

I suppose it shouldn’t be so surprising since I have already dubbed Clark the best point guard in the W myself, an opinion that was backed up by women’s basketball legend Rebecca Lobo. And given Caitlin already set the record for most assists and total points generated in a single game.

Clark is well on her way to obliterating the rookie record for assists in a season. Ticha Penicheiro had 225 total dimes in 1998, CC is just 12 away right now. But Caitlin is also on pace to set the mark for total assists in a season as well, for any player. Connecticut Sun forward Alyssa Thomas had 316 in 2023. To beat that Clark would need to average just over seven assists a game the rest of the way. For context, CC averaged 12.5 assists per game in July.

Clark is currently on a break, but when returns to play, it is clear she will be breaking even more records.
