Shannon Sharpe went scorched earth on Jameis Winston on Monday, insisting he would cut the Saints quarterback if the choice were up to him.
Sunday’s clash between the Saints and Falcons resulted in a 41-17 win for the former. Winston opted to go against his coach’s wishes and over his head as he called an inside handoff for Jamaal Williams on the goalline out of victory formation.
He explained that he wanted to get Williams a touchdown given that he hadn’t gotten into the end zone at all this season.
Falcons head coach Arthur Smith was fired after the game but, prior to being handed his marching orders, swore at Saints coach Dennis Allen, who later apologized in his postgame presser and explained that he called for his team to take a knee.
Speaking on Monday’s episode of ‘First Take’, Sharpe tore into Winston with claims that the QB has a “loser mentality” that hasn’t gotten him anywhere on any of his teams. As mentioned above, he called for Winston to be cut, but the player is an unrestricted free agent in the offseason so the Saints don’t need to release him if they want to part ways.

Sharpe also suggested that Allen should be let go too as he has clearly lost control of the locker room if his team could disregard his orders in such a manner.
