George Pickens interrupts Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes’ Netflix interview

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver George Pickens sparked a flurry of responses on social media after barging into Netflix’s postgame interview with Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver George Pickens divided NFL fans on social media after interrupting Netflix’s postgame interview with Kansas City Chiefs stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce.

On Christmas Day, the Chiefs dismantled the Steelers, 29-10, thanks to a record-breaking performance from Mahomes and Kelce. The signal-caller completed 29-of-38 passes for 320 yards and three touchdowns – marking the first time this season he’s thrown for over 300 yards and three touchdowns in a single game.

Kelce, meanwhile, reeled in the 77th touchdown catch of his decorated career, thereby dethroning Pro Football Hall of Famer Tony Gonzalez for the most in Chiefs franchise history. He finished the afternoon with eight catches on 11 targets for 84 yards and one score.

Following the dominant showing, Netflix’s Stacey Dales recognized Kelce and Mahomes as the Christmas Day MVPs – presenting each with an edible game ball and Santa-themed jackets. Before the festivities could begin, however, Pickens barged into the postgame interview to high-five both players.

Taking to social media, droves of viewers poked fun at the interaction – insisting that Pickens was attempting to orchestrate a trade to the Chiefs next season. “George Pickens hits the Chiefs players with the ‘come get me’ dap,” one X user wrote, with another adding: “If he had his way, he’d want to be their teammate.”

A third chimed in: “George Pickens crashes Mahomes and Kelce’s postgame interview saying ‘Please trade for me.’”

Others clapped back at the cynical outlook, asserting that Pickens’ gesture was nothing more than a display of good sportsmanship. “Hear me out… looks like he is saying good game to Kelce. Then he appears to move slightly to his left to say good game to PM. Then he walks out of frame,” someone said.

Another person noted, “It’s surprising how little some fans understand. Assuming athletes hate each other after a game is absurd. Players often dap each other up and share hugs. You can’t assume he even realized they were live yet, and some just don’t care either way.

Pickens did little to hide his frustration during the Steelers’ blowout defeat, voicing his anger on more than one occasion. With just under 11 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, the 23-year-old corralled an 18-yard pass from quarterback Russell Wilson that was negated by an offsides penalty. Two plays later, he was called for a false start after center Zach Frazier didn’t snap the football in time.

Following the second flag, Pickens ripped off his helmet and screamed in the direction of the Steelers’ sideline. On Pittsburgh’s ensuing offensive drive, the third-year wideout could once again be heard shouting in anger upon failing to pull off a one-handed grab. He finished the contest with just three catches on seven targets for 50 yards – 41 of which came from a single reception.
