Simone Biles’ brutal clap-back to critics over designer bag gift from parents after Olympics

American gymnast Simone Biles hit back at people who reserved judgment for her parents gifting her a Hermés bag

The gymnast took to Threads on August 14 to share news about the high-end bag that she received courtesy of her parents, Ronald and Nellie Biles. While sharing that news, she ended with a clap-back. The post read: “My parents bought me my Hermes bag. Don’t be mad at me, be mad at your parents.”

This come as Simone posted on Instagram August 9 her shopping trip at the French luxury brand. She shared photos of a wall filled with cream and tan colored Hermès Birkin bags. Then she had another photo of an orange gift box in Hermès’ signature color with four emojis (eye, shushing, heart-eyes and holding back tears emoji) above the box

Simone has just finished competing in the Paris Summer Olympics which had it’s Closing Ceremony on August 11. She was apart of the Closing Ceremony and carried the Olympic flag during the ceremony. She walked out and joined Los Angeles mayor Karen Bass on the stage as music artist H.E.R sang the American national anthem leading to actor Tom Cruise’s daredevil stunts.

As Simone walked on the stage, she was wearing a “precautionary” boot on her foot. She disclosed to TODAY on August 5 after her Olympic final, she was experiencing “a little bit of soreness” in her calf.

During her time at the Paris Olympics, the 27-year-old, went home with three gold metals for the individual all-around, vault, and team final. She won a silver medal in floor exercise and competed in the balance beam final but did place on the podium. Simon called the Paris Olympics her “redemption tour” after the Tokyo Olympic Games in 2020 where she withdraw from the games citing her mental health and “the twisties.”

Post-Paris makes Simone the most decorated American Olympic gymnast of all time with 11 medals over three Olympics Games and seven of the them gold. According to the Olympics website, she is also the most decorated gymnast ever with 30 World Championship metals, 23 of them gold.

The seven-gold Olympic medalist has attributed much of her success to her parents. Ronald and Nellie are Simone’s grandparent who adopted her and her young sister, Adria, after they were placed in foster care because their biological mother had struggles with drug and alcohol addiction, was in and out of jail.
