Sir Alex Ferguson was reunited with many players from his past at the Champions League final, as well as one who shunned Manchester United.

The Scot was spotted with Luis Figo, among others, but he also bumped into John Obi Mikel, who infamously rejected Manchester United to join Chelsea.

Ferguson doesn’t look too impressed in the picture, while Mikel appears to be smirking.

The picture was posted on The Obi One Podcast X page, with a caption that read: “THE BOSS.

“All is forgiven between @mikel_john_obi & Sir Alex Ferguson.

“Lip readers out there might disagree, though.”

Both watched as Real Madrid claimed their 15th Champions League title in a 2-0 win at Wembley over Borussia Dortmund.

Dani Carvajal opened the scoring with a header on 74 minutes before Vinicius Junior added another with a left-footed strike on 83 minutes.

Mikel and Ferguson have a long history, which stretches back to 2005 when the Red Devils signed the Nigerian.

At 18, Mikel signed a four-year contract with Man United and was expected to join the club in January 2006.

He was even pictured wearing a United kit, but his agents hadn’t been involved in the deal, and that proved to be a real problem.

Chelsea swooped and agreed a deal with Mikel and his representatives, leaving Man United furious.

The Premier League giants lodged a complaint to FIFA over the deal.

Eventually, an agreement was reached in June 2006, and Mikel joined Chelsea from Lyn Oslo for £16 million, where he won the Champions League, as well as two Premier League titles, four FA Cups and two League Cups.

Of course, Mikel and Ferguson crossed paths many times, but one particular encounter scared the midfielder.

Speaking on The Debrief Podcast about it, he said: “I saw him one time, it was Manchester United against Chelsea, I was coming out of the dressing room, and as I was coming out of the door at the corner, he was coming out and I just s*** myself.

“I can’t remember what happened, I think I tripped up on the stairs, he looked at me and he just walked out. He started chewing his gum and just walked out. He didn’t say a word.”

Ferguson later forgave Mikel for the transfer, although, judging by the photo, it still appears as if he was unhappy with their latest meeting.
