Ex-NBA Guard Reacts To LeBron James' Claim About Bronny

In his 22nd season, NBA star LeBron James will fulfill his long-time dream of playing with his son Bronny James in the league. While many raised claims of nepotism, the Los Angeles Lakers star believed his firstborn was destined to pursue a basketball career. However, many called out the four-time NBA champion for stretching out the truth to justify Bronny’s draft.

The Lakers acquired Bronny James in the 2024 NBA Draft, 52nd overall in the second round. On the Lakers’ media day, fans caught the first glimpse of the father-son duo in the Purple and Gold together. While addressing the media, the 39-year-old forward shared an anecdote claiming he knew Bronny was “special” since he was five.

While sitting with his son, LeBron said, “He did something. He had grabbed a rebound and like drove coast-to-coast through the lane, through a couple of the other kids, and like laid it up. I looked over at his mom and was like, ‘he’s special.’ She was like, ‘What? He’s five years old.’”

Jeff Teague “Didn’t Feel” LeBron James’ Claim About Bronny

On the Club 520 podcast, former NBA point guard Jeff Teague reacted to LeBron James claiming he knew his son was “special” when he was five. The 2015 NBA All-Star said, “I F**k with Bron, and that whole moment, the only thing I didn’t feel was when he said he knew Bronny was going to be special at 5 years old.”

His comment left other members in splits, with one of them pointing out Bronny’s reaction when his father said that. Apart from them, some fans also believed the Lakers star was lying as one person wrote, “Why (does) it always sound like he (is) lying. This (is) prolly (probably) a true story, but it just sounds like he made this up.”

The upcoming season will determine whether Bronny’s father is right about his son being special or the fans will continue criticizing the draft. However, the Lakers rookie is expected to spend most of his first season in the NBA G league. LeBron James and the Lakers will face the Minnesota Timberwolves in their opening game of the 2024-25 season on October 22.
