Spencer Rattler’s Slide In The NFL Draft Was Reportedly The Result Of A Very Odd Appearance /d

An odd appearance is being blamed for Spencer Rattler’s slide in the NFL Draft.

The former South Carolina quarterback wasn’t among the top prospects of this year’s incoming class and wasn’t expected to be a first-round pick. But falling to the fifth round wasn’t something anyone expected to see either.

The New Orleans Saints selected Rattler on Saturday, making him the 150th overall pick. And, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, his appearance in the Netflix reality show ‘QB1’ back in 2019 may have caused his slip through the rounds.

Rattler was shown criticizing his teammates as a high school player in 2018, which is believed to have prevented him from going higher. Of course, most quarterbacks who want to win throw criticism around all the time, but Rapoport suggested it was a bad look that cost the player a better spot.

An appearance from six years ago in which a teenager behaved like a teenager should by no means have any bearing on a player’s stock, but stranger things have happened.

Former NFL QB Robert Griffin III Thinks Spencer Rattler Was The Steal Of The Draft

Robert Griffin III reckons Spencer Rattler was the steal of the draft, pointing out that the former Gamecocks QB had one of the worst offensive lines in front of him and found ways to make it work.

RGIII had already tipped Rattler to be a steal earlier this month.

“He has the arm talent, has the accuracy, has the pre-snap and post-snap ability, and played in a system at South Carolina that forced him to make those three-level throws that they use in the NFL off of play action,” he noted.

“[It’s] going to translate to him being a better NFL QB than he ever was a college QB.”

Well, we’ll see how things work out for Rattler and the Saints in the long run.
