Chris Brown has showcased scenes from his South African concert in his new music video, Residuals.

The US singer – who released the video this week – performed in the country twice on 14 and 15 December as part of his 11:11 World Tour.

The controversial concert was criticised by anti-gender-based violence activists who questioned the star’s entry into the country, given his alleged history with violence.

This comes amid an Investigation Discovery documentary titled Chris Brown: A History of Violence, which the singer is taking action against.

On Thursday, 23 January, Chris Brown launched his new music video for his single Residuals.

In it, he featured the visuals of his South African concerts, which took place at the FNB Stadium last month. The clips – which also showcased footage from his Brazilian shows – featured hundreds of fans singing their hearts out to the ballad.

According to Vibe, Residuals peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Rhythmic chart and No. 2 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay charts.

It has been nominated for a Grammy Award in the category of Best R&B Performance.

‘I PROMISE TO COME BACK’

Chris Brown’s South African concert made headlines in South Africa over a petition to deny him entry based on his alleged history of violence and brush with the law.

The petition was addressed to the departments of Home Affairs and Sports, Arts, and Culture.

The performances went ahead at the 94 000-seater stadium.

Chris has since thanked South Africans for their welcome. He also promised to return.

He captioned a recent Instagram post: “[South African flag emoji] Thank you for allowing me to come and perform for you! I will never forget these moments. I promise to come back ❤️ LOVE YOU ALL”.
