LOS Angeles’ controversial decision around Bronny James’ development has been labeled ‘very typical’ by an NBA insider.
The rookie will play in home G League games only and not make road trips with the South Bay Lakers.
Bronny will also spend time around the Lakers first team during his development.
He will float between dad LeBron James’ main side and the G League team during his rookie season.
And ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania insisted it is normal practice for a second-round draft pick.
Speaking on the Pat McAfee Show, Charania said, ” The Lakers want him to continue to shuttle back and forth, spending as much time on the active roster as possible.

“It is very typical for a second-round pick to shuttle back and forth with the G League.”
Charania also shed light on why the Lakers only want Bronny to play in home G League games.
“Bronny James isn’t just your normal, everyday G League player,” he said.
“His name is Bronny James, and there are some things with him that just go with it.

“I mean, I don’t know if it’s a security thing, but there’s a different level of fanfare when he’s on the road for these G League games.
“So how do you manage that on the road?
“I don’t think the door is necessarily completely shut on him playing in those road games as the G League season goes on.”
Charania also appeared on the Pat McAfee Show last week and provided a retirement update on Bronny’s dad LeBron.
The 39-year-old is off to a flying start in the 2024-25 season.
And Charania thinks his other son Bryce could have an impact on LeBron’s decision.
ESPN insider Shams Charania said, “My sense is next season could potentially be his last season in the NBA.
How the NBA Cup works
The NBA Cup returned for a second season this year with the finals once again set to take place in Las Vegas.
The 30 teams were split into six groups of five teams each with games taking place on Tuesdays and Fridays from November 12 to December 3.
The six group winners and two best wild cards advance to a quarterfinals stage on December 10 and 11.
And the final four head to Las Vegas for the semifinals on December 14 and the final on December 17.
All games count towards the team’s regular-season record, apart from the championship game.
“Could he play another season after that to 2026 or 2027? Potentially.”
LeBron fulfilled a dream this year by playing with his son Bronny.
His other son Bryce is 17 and could declare for the NBA Draft in 2026.
“Maybe Bryce James keeps him around an extra year or two.
“But I do think, next season, All-Star Game in LA, there might be some good momentum there for that.”
