Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr has agreed to a contract extension that will make him the highest-paid coach in NBA history.

The contract extension — which kicks in after this season — with the Warriors is for two years and worth $35 million, according to a Friday report by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski

The extension keeps Kerr with Golden State through 2025-26, which happens to be the end of star Steph Curry’s contract.

Kerr was hired after the Warriors controversially moved on from Mark Jackson following a solid 51-31 2013-14 campaign.

The then-new Warriors head coach then led the team to an NBA championship in his first season on the job, a team that went 67-15 behind Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green and Andre Iguodala, who won the NBA Finals MVP, largely for the defensive job he did against LeBron James and the Cavaliers.

Kerr led the Dubs to three more titles, most recently against the Celtics in 2022.

After a 97-84 win on Friday, the Warriors sit at 29-26 and are 10th in the Western Conference.

Kerr has a 502-264 career record during the regular season, good for a .656 winning percentage.

As for Curry, he’s slated to make $55.7 million next season and $59.6 million in 2025-26, the last of his current deal, according to Spotrac.

He scored 15 points with five assists in Friday’s win.
