Angel Reese dated fellow college basketball player Cam’Ron Fletcher during a whirlwind year, before she confirmed their breakup in March 2024.
“Yeah, I’m single,” Reese said on an Instagram Live. “I don’t got no man. Don’t attach me to no man. That’s all I’mma say. That’s it.”
Reese’s star has been on the rise ever since she joined Louisiana State University’s basketball team after transferring from the University of Maryland in 2022. The player, known as “Bayou Barbie,” won a national championship in 2023 and is one of the highest-earning female college athletes, per Adweek.
When Reese first confirmed their relationship during an appearance on the 1 Star Recruits podcast in June 2023, she also noted that they had known each other six years before dating.
“Cam’Ron is my boyfriend, yes,” she said. “We both play the same sport so we understand each other’s schedule. I think that also helps.”
So who is Angel Reese’s ex-boyfriend? Here’s everything to know about Cam’Ron Fletcher and his former relationship with the college basketball star.
He is named after a rapper

Fletcher’s parents drew some inspiration from the hip-hop world when naming their son. Cam’Ron is named after the Grammy-nominated, multiplatinum-selling rapper with the same name, according to his college athlete bio.
The Harlem-born artist, also known as Killa Cam, was a key player in hip-hop music in the late ’90s and early 2000s with hits including “Hey Ma” and “Horse and Carriage.”
He is from Missouri

Fletcher was born in St. Louis, Missouri, to his parents, Tamika Fletcher and Michael Henderson. He also has three siblings, Jalen Fletcher — who played college basketball at Harris-Stowe State University — Raven Fletcher and Jayden Dickerson.
Fletcher graduated from Vashon High School in St. Louis in 2020, where he was a member of the basketball and track and field teams. The athlete takes great pride in his upbringing in the southern state.
“My hometown Saint Louis, Missouri is easily the best city in the world,” he shared in his college bio. “I love it because the city loves me; it’s my city.”
He is a college basketball player

Like his ex-girlfriend, Fletcher is a college basketball player. In 2021, the Missouri-born athlete transferred from the University of Kentucky to Florida State University.
“I’m excited to play with a group of guys and to be part of a brotherhood,” Fletcher said in a press release announcing his FSU signing. “I’m really looking forward to meeting and getting to know my new teammates.”
He continued, “It’s important to me to get to know them as people, so I can learn about them as players. I feel like I can thrive in Florida State’s system. I’m looking forward to working hard and achieving big things on the court.”
He suffered a sports injury

On Dec. 2, 2023, Fletcher went down with a knee injury during a loss to the University of North Carolina. The incident came almost a year to the day that he tore his ACL on Dec. 4, 2022.
The reinjury was difficult news for the player, who had only been cleared for full-contact basketball activities earlier that October. Fletcher maintained a positive outlook in a since-deleted Instagram post.
“Another season-ending injury… it hasn’t been a full year since I’ve been fully healthy. I’m very thankful for everyone who has had my back through the toughest times of my life,” he wrote in part. “Going through this the first time taught me a lot about myself and has also gotten me closer with God.”
He and Angel traveled together

The former couple carved out time together before returning to their respective campuses ahead of the 2023-2024 season.
Reese posted since-deleted pictures on Instagram from their vacation to Jamaica, where they wore matching Balenciaga swimsuits, went horseback riding, rode ATVs and enjoyed rafting.
“Let’s keep making memories together 😏,” Fletcher commented under her Instagram post.
Although the former pair broke up a few months later, Reese opened up about how her time with Fletcher kept her grounded.
“He’s really supportive and I’ve known him for six years,” she told Women’s Health in their March/April 2024 issue. “He’s known me before all of this has happened, so it’s a genuine relationship and he understands me.”
