There was only one person Tara Davis-Woodhall wanted to celebrate her Olympic medal with… and that was her husband, Hunter Woodhall.
Tara, 25, who won the gold medal in the women’s long jump final on Thursday, Aug. 8, rushed to meet Hunter, 25, at the Stade de France for a sweet hug.
“It was a huge relief and a ‘final’ moment,” Tara joked. “I was looking him in the eye and I didn’t know where he was,” NBC announcers said late Thursday. “I almost blacked out for a second and he made it that much more special.”
The win marks Tara’s first Olympic victory, which she said felt “very surreal.”

“I dreamed about this moment and I said, ‘808, that’s the day I’m going to win the Olympics,’ I wrote it everywhere,” the track star reflected. “And when I found out I was jumping at 8:08 p.m., it was just a sign from God! Those are angel numbers.”

She continued: “It seems unbelievable but I can believe it. I worked so hard this season to get here. Going undefeated was one of my goals and I said to myself, ‘No one is going to do better than me this year’ and I did something so hard that no one can touch it.”
Tara’s participation in Paris was her second Olympics but her first medal. As she prepared to win gold, Hunter was his number one fan.

“Tomorrow you guys are competing for the Olympic title. I feel so honored by you. “You fought so hard just to give yourself a chance,” he said on Instagram on Wednesday, August 7. “You inspired so many people with your authenticity. Showing that it’s okay to fight, it’s not always okay.”
