Draymond Green, a great player for the Golden State Warriors, expressed his opinion about the NBA’s unfair treatment of Jamal Murray for his behavior in Game 2 of the Western Conference semifinals. The Denver Nuggets point guard tossed a towel and a heating pack at an official during their matchup against the Minnesota Timberwolves, but the NBA decided not to ban him.
Having been fined and suspended several times in his career, Green said he didn’t understand how the league decides how long and how much punishment suits players. The four-time winner spoke about this subject when he was a guest on “The Big Pod with Shaq.”
Draymond Green said at 9:39: “The problem that I have oftentimes with the suspensions, you don’t know what it is… It’s all over the place. I think it was absolutely insane that you get a $100,000 fine, no suspension, no nothing for throwing a heating pack at an official? I throw a word at an official, they throw me under the jail.”
Murray’s antics during a blowout game did not result in a suspension. However, Murray was Fined $100,000 for his behavior. A few fans had anticipated that the point guard would be punished for his behavior, but all that happened was a fine. With no more consequences, the Canadian point guard played the entire series.
Draymond Green Was Once Suspended From the NBA Finals
The Cleveland Cavaliers and the Warriors squared battle in the 2016 NBA Finals. Draymond Green and LeBron James got caught up in Game 4 of the series, which resulted in a fight. The league thus suspended Green.
He was absent from Game 5 of the series, which may have changed the result. However, devoted followers know how the Cavs rallied from a 1-3 series deficit.
During his interview on O’Neal’s podcast, Draymond Green said he thought he would have been the Finals MVP if he hadn’t been suspended. Nevertheless, Cleveland gained momentum and won the series thanks to the suspension.
