The Los Angeles Lakers’ juggernaut has finally come to a halt this season. After going 3-0 in their first three games, the Lakers were looking like an invincible unit. However, going up against the Phoenix Suns, the Lakers tasted defeat for the first time. In a very closely contested game, the Los Angeles outfit got humbled 105-109. But there might have been a reason that catalyzed the downfall.
Well, there is no telling how LeBron James can be the deciding factor in a game. For the last three games, King James seemed to be right on top of his business. Unfortunately, he looked significantly off-color this morning, becoming a major factor in the Lakers’ sorry-showing.
But there is a reason for that. James dropped just 11 points with a shooting accuracy of a mere 21.4%. And as revealed by the King himself, he was feeling under the weather. Speaking with the media, James informed the audience about his illness, saying, “I’ve been better, you’ll hear it in my voice.” He further revealed that he had been ill since last Friday.
However, despite the loss, James is not concerned. Having started off really strong, the NBA icon felt that the Lakers had accomplished some “great things” this season. Although he did not rule out the possibility of improvement, James is sure about the Lakers’ good showing this season. Now, there have been a lot of rumors regarding the possible retirement of the aging legend. Interestingly, an NBA insider has some intriguing news on the same.
Lakers Star LeBron James To Retire Soon?
LeBron James is 39. This season, too, he has looked a tad bit slower than the usual James we are accustomed to seeing. Now, there are a lot of factors that can result in sluggishness. The Lakers underwent a grueling preseason followed by back-to-back games. Despite the age talks, James still managed to win the Olympic gold medal this year.
Thus, despite ranking third on the Lakers’ list of shooters this season, people are not ready to buy his retirement. Recently, NBA insider Shams Charania made an appearance on ‘The Pat McAfee Show.’ There, Charania discussed LeBron James’ retirement.
“LeBron James is gonna play at least two more years, and he could potentially go three. I don’t think anybody would be surprised if he played beyond next season,” Charania stated. Thus, with James still going strong, it remains to be seen how James paces his season ahead.
