Most Improved Player NBA 2024 Odds and Top Candidates

The San Antonio Spurs recently held preseason interviews, asking players like Victor Wembanyama some unique questions before the NBA season tips off.

Since much of the attention around basketball in early October shines on the WNBA, Wembanyama and a few of his teammates discussed some of the top players in the league, like Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark.

Wembanyama was asked which WNBA player has inspired him and he was quick to give credit to Clark.

He explained that Clark was the “most impressive” college basketball player, both men’s and women’s, he had ever seen.

“Caitlin Clark,” Wembanyama said. “The only college player that I was really in awe of the game… I’m saying, men and women’s college basketball, she’s probably the most impressive I’ve ever seen.”

Clark competed for the Iowa Hawkeyes at the collegiate level from 2020-24. During her four-year career, the 22-year-old became the NCAA’s all-time scoring leader, posting 3,951 points with the Hawkeyes.

The six-foot guard was a starter at Iowa in all four seasons with the program. She finished her career averaging 28.4 points, 8.2 assists and 7.1 rebounds per game.

Clark also led the Hawkeyes to back-to-back Final Four appearances in 2023 and 2024.

Once she was drafted with the No. 1 overall pick to the Fever in 2024, Clark showed off her elite-level skill set at the professional level.

The rookie averaged 19.2 points, 8.4 assists and 5.7 rebounds per game as a full-time starter in Indiana. Clark led the WNBA in average assists and led the rookie class in both points and assists.
