Diana Taurasi will be going for a sixth and final Olympic gold medal during the Paris Games.

“It’s definitely it for USA Basketball,” she told ESPN. “I’m 42. Six Olympics. It’s just been such an honor to put that jersey on every single time.”

Taurasi is arguably the greatest women’s basketball player in the history of the sport and has five Olympic gold medals on her illustrious resume. She helped the Americans bring home gold in the Games in 2004 (Athens), 2008 (Beijing), 2012 (London), 2016 (Rio de Janeiro) and 2021 (Tokyo).

While doing so, she averaged 10.9 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game while connecting on a head-turning 44.8 percent of her three-point attempts across the five competitions.

The 11-time All-Star figures to be one of the veteran leaders for a loaded Team USA in these Olympics even if she isn’t the go-to option on a roster that includes A’ja Wilson, Breanna Stewart, Sabrina Ionescu, Kelsey Plum and others.

The Americans are heading into the Games following a loss to a team of WNBA stars in the league’s All-Star Game.

Fortunately for the Red, White and Blue, they won’t have to worry about facing Caitlin Clark dishing out assists or Arike Ogunbowale draining shots from seemingly all over the floor in Paris.

And there is also a blueprint in place for gold, as the 2021 team also lost to the All-Stars before winning the Olympics competition in Tokyo.

Taurasi will now look to reach the highest level of international accomplishment once again in Paris—for the final time.
