The most decorated Olympian of all time, Michael Phelps, and hip hop legend Snoop Dogg took a break from their busy week of NBC Olympic coverage to hit the water for a quick swimming lesson in Paris.
“How does one get so fast in the pool?” Snoop asked while covered from head to toe in an American flag robe.
“Wingspan, lungpower,” responded Phelps.
“You just described me,” Snoop joked. “I definitely have great lung power. And I do have a swimmer’s body. Our bodies are similar, Mike, we could be twins.”
Snoop seemed confident at the start, turning down goggles because he can “see real good without them.” But by the end of the video, the 52-year-old was wearing goggles and crediting Phelps for making it look “too easy.”
At one point, the 39-year-old Phelps pushes off the wall underwater, demonstrating smooth dolphin kicks on his back.
“Okay flipper,” Snoop said. “That was gangster.”
Snoop was in attendance for the first finals session of pool swimming in Paris, watching the men’s 4×100 freestyle relay secure Team USA’s first gold medal of the Olympics this summer. He even celebrated the win alongside Caeleb Dressel‘s wife, Meghan, exchanging a high five after Dressel anchored the Americans to victory.
Swimming isn’t the only sport Snoop has tried out so far in Paris. He also received some fencing training from British-American foil fencer Miles Chamley-Watson, offering some hilarious commentary in the process.
On Friday, Snoop was one of the final torch bearers in the opening ceremony.
