Some NFL fans reckon Caleb Williams took a shot at Justin Fields during a Pro Day interview.

The former Heisman is believed to be headed to Chicago, with the Bears now expected to draft him at No. 1 overall after trading Justin Fields to the Pittsburgh Steelers. While he didn’t participate in drills at the NFL Scouting Combine earlier this month, Williams has gone through his paces at USC’s Pro Day.

The quarterback made an appearance on ‘The Herd’ with host Colin Cowherd on Wednesday and was asked about his abilities when it comes to passing, as well as running with the football.

Williams said he is able to do both but doesn’t like running unless he has to.

“I don’t like running unless I have to,” he said. “I like throwing the ball to my receivers, letting all of us have fun. It’s a lot more fun to be able to throw a 20-yard dagger route to my ‘X’ receiver and let them eat up down the middle.”

Caleb Williams Has Earned Comparisons To Patrick Mahomes

Caleb Williams has earned plenty of comparisons to Kansas City Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes due to his ability to make plays with both his arms and legs depending on what the defense gives him.

While it has earned him praise, some analysts reckon his proclivity for the improvisational run and throw is a red flag given that it did not work for Fields, with Sam Darnold another pertinent example.

Mahomes has thrived in the KC offense, which allows him to make plays on the fly based on the situation and how strongly the offensive line holds. But it appears many don’t believe Williams could replicate the former’s success.

Others, including Cowherd, are of the view that the QB can make the correct reads and remain within an offense’s structure instead of trying to make every throw a highlight. But we’ll just have to wait and see how things work out in the NFL.
