Former NFL running back Terrell Davis and his wife Tamiko Nash have shared additional details regarding the Hall of Famer’s ordeal over the weekend.

Davis was taken off a United Airlines flight in handcuffs on Saturday following a bizarre incident with a flight attendant. The 51-year-old was flying from Denver to Orange County with his wife and three children at the time and claims to have been traumatized by the unfolding events.

“During the beverage service, my son politely requested a cup of ice. The flight attendant either didn’t hear or ignored his request and continued past our row,” Davis shared on Instagram. “I calmly reached behind me and lightly tapped his arm to get his attention to again ask for a cup of ice for my son. His response and the events that followed should stun all of us.”

He added that the attendant shouted, “Don’t hit me,” before leaving the area.

Davis was approached by law enforcement agents shortly after the plane touched down in California and placed in handcuffs before he was taken off the aircraft.

The former player and his wife sat down with ‘Good Morning America’ on Wednesday to recount the experience.

Davis said the attendant had been rude in all of his interactions with his children and slammed their drinks down on their trays after they ordered.

“I felt demoralized. I felt embarrassed, humiliated. I felt like my dignity was stripped from me right in front of my children and my family. And I want United to be held accountable for this,” he said of the way he was treated by the law enforcement agents.

His wife said she thought it was a practical joke when she saw him getting handcuffed.

She noted having asked: “Terrell, are you joking? … Is this a prank?’ And he just said, quietly, ‘No, it’s not.’ And I’m looking at my sons, who are sitting right next to him, watching their dad being handcuffed.”

United Airlines has since issued an apology, but Davis said he hadn’t heard from them directly as of the time of the interview.

“They have not reached out to me to apologize. They have reached out to my attorney, but I have not heard from them directly. And so that, to me, is a problem,” he said.
