A documentary series about the New England Patriots dynasty was just launched on Apple TV, and it features a number of intriguing tales about the players and team’s cultures.

One of the most divisive players to play in New England at the time was Aaron Hernandez, a former Florida Gators standout and tight end.

Hernandez played for the Patriots from 2010 through 2012 when he was released after being arrested and ultimately convicted of murder and died in prison in 2017.

Former Patriots receiver Brandon Lloyd says he was warned about Hernandez’s erratic behavior by Wes Welker, a six-year veteran of the team.

“He stops me and, kind of touches me on my shoulders and he’s looking at me wide-eyed in my face and he says, ‘Your locker is in between [Rob] Gronkowski and Hernandez. I just want to warn you that he’s going to talk about being bathed by his mother, via Mens Journal.

“He’s going to have his genitalia out in front of you while you’re sitting out on your stool. He’s going to have his towel and try to dry off in front of you while you’re sitting at your locker. He’s going to talk about gay sex. Just do your best to ignore it. Even walk away.’

Lloyd also added how Aaron Hernandez often behaved erratically at practice, engaging in “child-like” and “disruptive” behavior and once threatening to “f-ck up” a teammate at training camp and none of it would illicit a comment or reaction from the head coach Bill Belichick.

Aaron Hernandez Was Arrested, Released by The Patriots, And Convicted of Murder

Aaron Hernandez would be released by the New England Patriots after his arrest by authorities. He was found guilty of first-degree murder in 2015 and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole at the Souza-Baranowski Correctional Center.

Aaron Hernandez would be tried and ultimately found not guilty of murdering two men in Boston in 2017. The 27-year-old hanged himself on April 19, five days after the acquittal.

Hernandez used a bed sheet tied to his cell window to kill himself. He also tried to jam the door of the cell with “various items.”

Hernandez has spent his entire three-year career with the Patriots after being drafted in the fourth round in the 2010 NFL Draft.

Hernandez had 175 receptions for 1,956 yards and 18 touchdowns over his three years as a tight end in New England.
