Nika Muhl lying on the court after knee injury

Seattle Storm guard Nika Muhl appeared to sustain a serious knee injury while playing overseas this week.

Muhl played little during her first season in the WNBA, scoring only one basket all year. However, she remains one of the league’s most popular players.

She can thank the defense she played against Caitlin Clark for UConn in the NCAA Tournament for her rise to fame. The outing, despite ending in a loss, had everyone talking about the feisty Croatian who locked Clark down.

Muhl went on to become the No. 14 overall pick by the Storm earlier this year, though the team didn’t give her significant minutes. She opted to play for Turkish side Besiktas during the offseason in a bid to prepare herself for her second term in the pros.

Things went awry this Thursday as the guard went down with a gruesome knee injury while playing against former Storm teammate Gabby Williams and Fenerbahce S.K. She appeared to twist her knee on an awkward landing after snatching a rebound. Muhl went down immediately and was heard screaming in pain.

“She screaming a little too loud, hopefully not a ACL/MCL,” a user observed.

Muhl was eventually stretchered off the court.

Nika Muhl Returned To The Sideline After Being Stretchered Off

There was no update on Muhl’s condition at the time of writing, but she did return to the sideline, which could be a good sign.

The Croatian star had put in a good outing before getting injured, scoring 11 points along with 3 rebounds, 9 assists, and 2 steals, per Alford Corriette, who also disclosed that she was around for the team’s postgame huddle.

We are hoping the injury isn’t as serious as it looked.
