Why do Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel have beef?
The dispute between the two stars dates back to 2016, while they were filming The Fate of the Furious, the eighth movie of the long-running franchise.
Johnson stated on his deleted Instagram post: “There’s no other franchise that gets my blood boiling more than this one.”
He continued: “My female costars are always amazing and I love ’em. My male costars, however, are a different story.”
“Some conduct themselves as stand up men and true professionals, while others don’t,” he went onto say.
“The ones that don’t are too chicken s*** to do anything about it anyway. Candy asses,” he said without mentioning names.
“When you watch this movie next April and it seems like I’m not acting in some of these scenes and my blood is legit boiling – you’re right,” The Rock concluded on Instagram.
What did Vin Diesel say about Dwayne Johnson?
In the wake of Dwayne Johnson sounding off on Instagram, Vin Diesel responded to his costar’s claims during an interview with USA Today.
Diesel told USA Today, “I think some things may be blown out of proportion. I don’t think that was his intention.”
He also said: “I know he appreciates how much I work this franchise. In my house, he’s Uncle Dwayne.”
In a November 7, 2021, Instagram post, Diesel said: “My little brother Dwayne … the time has come.
He continued: “The world awaits the finale of Fast 10. As you know, my children refer to you as Uncle Dwayne in my house.
Diesel further said: “There is not a holiday that goes by that they and you don’t send well wishes… but the time has come.”
“Legacy awaits, I swore that we would reach and manifest the best Fast in the finale that is 10! I say this out of love … but you must show up, do not leave the franchise idle you have a very important role to play,” the actor went on to say.
“Hobbs can’t be played by no other, I hope that you rise to the occasion and fulfill your destiny.”
Diesel also mentioned late costar Paul Walker in the post, referring to him as “Pablo” and writing that he told Johnson that he was going to “fulfill his promise” to the deceased actor of having “the best” finale to the Furious franchise.
Will Dwayne Johnson return to The Fast and Furious franchise?
On July 23, 2021, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson released a statement on his official Twitter account that revealed he was departing the Fast and Furious franchise.
Johnson tweeted, “I wish them well on Fast 9. And I wish them the best of luck on Fast 10 and Fast 11 and the rest of the Fast and Furious movies they do that will be without me.”
Johnson’s character, Luke Hobbs, did not appear in F9: The Fast Saga and will not star in any further franchise sequels.
Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel’s feud follows years of starring together on The Fast and Furious franchise.
In response to Diesel’s November 7, 2021 Instagram posts, Johnson’s reception was lukewarm.
On Wednesday, December 29, Johnson told CNN: “I was very surprised by Vin’s recent post.”
He continued: “This past June, when Vin and I actually connected not over social media, I told him directly — and privately — that I would not be returning to the franchise.”
“I was firm yet cordial with my words and said that I would always be supportive of the cast and always root for the franchise to be successful, but that there was no chance I would return.”
“I didn’t like that he brought up his children in the post, as well as Paul Walker’s death. Leave them out of it.” Johnson went on to say.
The former Fast and Furious actor mentioned: “Vin’s recent public post was an example of his manipulation.”
