Power Forward Aaron Gordon and the Denver Nuggets played host to the Utah Jazz at the Ball Arena last night. In what was an electrifying game of basketball, fans present in the arena witnessed the Nuggets deliver a statement 142-121 win as they made progress in their quest to reclaim the number one spot in the Western Conference.

Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray combined for 63 points against the Utah Jazz. The Nuggets pretty much blew the Jazz out of the building after defeating the Boston Celtics. The combination remains deadly and unstoppable for the second season in a row. Interestingly, Aaron Gordon captured social media attention for a first-quarter incident.

Gordon had another highlight-reel moment around the 5th minute of the game. Jokic won a jump ball, and Gordon bulldozed his way through the Utah Jazz’s defense. The power forward did his best Derrick Henry impression to score. With the bucket, the Nuggets extended their lead to 22-12.

Utah Jazz players Luka Samanic and Kris Dunn felt the impact. Aaron Gordon is a big man. His physicality and strong presence, along with Nikola Jokic, remain a vital part of the Nuggets. Finishing on the top of the Western Conference gives a home-field playoff advantage. Hence, the Nuggets will hope to keep winning and secure the No. 1 seed ahead of the playoffs.

Aaron Gordon’s recent performance for the Nuggets

The last ten games have fared very well for the Denver Nuggets. Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic have contributed very well to the team. However, Aaron Gordon remains an unsung hero for the Nuggets. His defense and flexible partnership alongside Nikola Jokic have helped the Nuggets immensely after the All-Star break.

Gordon and Jokic seem to have a telepathic understanding of each other’s position on the court. Gordon’s viral dunk against the Boston Celtics further proved their telepathic connection. ‘The Joker’ acknowledged it recently. Jokic has a history of talking about serious things in a funny way. His response was another such instance. This is what Jokic said:

Sometimes I don’t even look and I know he is going to be there.

Gordon missed some time this season due to a freak accident. However, when he is healthy on the court, the Nuggets look like they can win another title. The trio of Jokic, Murray, and Gordon must remain fit for the Nuggets to have any chance of repeating as the NBA champions.
