WNBA star Sophie Cunningham had fans in raptures at the All-Star game, and she wasn’t even playing in the game.

The Phoenix Mercury guard was on the sidelines for the big game between the WNBA All-Stars and US Olympic team in Phoenix, Arizona.

And when the cameras panned to her during the game, she produced a moment that delighted the crowd, quickly drinking down her margarita.

In fact, it was more of a chug than a drink, so quickly did Cunningham put it away.

She couldn’t stop the laughter coming as the crowd cheered her along.

And fellow WNBA player Crystal Dangerfield, whom she was sitting with, humorously wiped Cunningham’s face after she was finished.

There was a carnival atmosphere at the game, which was won by the All-Star team.

The US team is making its final preparations for the Paris Olympics, which start this week.

Cunningham was in her home arena to watch teammates Britney Griner, Kahleah Copper and Diana Taurasi suit up for Team USA.

The 27-year-old has been with Mercury for five years.

On a night of interesting storylines, All-Star Caitlin Clark was full of class as she addressed her omission from the US Olympic team.

It was a hugely controversial moment when Clark was left off the American women’s basketball team that will compete in Paris.

But when asked directly by one of the reporters covering the game whether the result offered her any sense of vindication, she answered, “No.”

And she pointed out the All-Star team claimed victory before the last Olympics in Tokyo.

“They’re really good. They have plenty of talent on that team,” Clark said.

“Four years prior I’m pretty sure Team WNBA beat Team USA, and they were perfectly fine in the Olympics.

“If anything, it shows how good this league is. It shows how much talent is in this league and how you have to show up and prepare every single night.

“There’s a lot of players that aren’t even here tonight that could be here too. It just shows the amount of talent we have.

“For myself, from my standpoint, this is a great opportunity to help prepare them for Paris.

“I’m going to be supporting them and cheering them on.

“I love the Olympics. I’ve loved the Olympics ever since I was a little kid.

“They’re going to be just fine. They’re going to win gold and dominate.”
