Before the game, Clark joined *The Wake Up Call with KB and Andy* on 107.5 The Fan and discussed her recent snub from the 2024 Paris Olympics. When asked how upset she was about not making Team USA, Clark gave a response that should worry the rest of the WNBA.

“Honestly, I wasn’t really pissed. More than anything, it was a motivator. It gives you something to work for. It doesn’t make me want to prove people wrong. It almost makes me want to prove to myself like I can do this. I can be there. I think the best thing about this for me is like it’s shown me a lot of ways I can grow, and I’ve already been able to do a lot of great things,” Clark said.

In her first season in the WNBA, Clark was selected to the All-Star team and became the first WNBA rookie ever to record a triple-double.

Clark continued, “I just still feel like there are so many areas I can improve, and that makes me so excited. Sure, I average whatever I average, but I still feel like there’s so many ways for me to get better. And that’s the most exciting part.”

Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark (22) prepares for the start of the second quarter against the Phoenix Mercury at Footprint Center.

Caitlin Clark has already proven that her basketball skills seamlessly translate from her college days with the Iowa Hawkeyes to the WNBA. As the season has progressed, she has only improved. In four of the last five games, Clark has recorded a double-double, compared to just two in the previous 17 games.

Clark has revitalized a Fever team that was at the bottom of the WNBA standings last season, positioning them for their first playoff appearance in almost ten years. With her recent motivation to improve even further, as she mentioned, the rest of the WNBA should watch out.
