The WNBA rolled out its full schedule for the 2025 regular season on Monday, and opening week features a blockbuster pitting Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever against Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky.

The season tips off on May 16 with three games. Here’s the full slate for the first week:

WNBA Opening Weekend 2025

Friday, May 16

7:30 p.m. ET: Atlanta Dream at Washington Mystics
7:30 p.m. ET: Minnesota Lynx at Dallas Wings
10 p.m. ET: Los Angeles Sparks at Golden State Valkyries

Saturday, May 17

1 p.m. ET: Chicago Sky at Indiana Fever
3 p.m. ET: Las Vegas Aces vs. New York Liberty
10 p.m. ET: Seatle Storm vs. Phoenix Mercury

Sunday, May 18

1 p.m. ET: Washington Mystics at Connecticut Sun
6 p.m. ET: Minnesota Lynx at Los Angeles Sparks

The opening weekend will also see the expansion Golden State Valkyries stage their first home game at Chase Center.

It remains unclear who will represent the Valkyries on the court. General manager Ohemaa Nyanin and head coach Natalie Nakase will get to put their roster together with Friday’s expansion draft, while the free-agent negotiating window typically opens in January.

On the East Coast, meanwhile, the New York Liberty will hang their first championship banner on May 17 when they host the Las Vegas Aces.

The Liberty will tentatively open 2025 as the championship favorites. Breanna Stewart is set to hit unrestricted free agency this winter but is unlikely to bolt the Big Apple after enjoying so much success there. Otherwise, New York’s other key players are all slated to return.

The Aces, the other hand, could be facing a pivotal offseason.

Like Stewart, Kelsey Plum will also embark on unrestricted free agency. Her future in Las Vegas might be a little murky, however, after the team finished fourth in the standings and lost to the Liberty in four games in the semifinals.

The nucleus of Plum, A’ja Wilson, Chelsea Gray and Jackie Young powered the Aces to 2022 and 2023 titles. Their lack of depth behind those four stars became a more glaring issue in their three-peat bid. With new leadership in the front office, a minor reshuffle could be in store.

Should Las Vegas take a step backward, the path to a second straight WNBA Finals win becomes more clear for the Liberty. Their first battle will be a barometer of the gap between the two franchises.
