Southgate resigned from his role as England manager after their Euro 2024 final defeat to Spain.
Gareth Southgate has landed his first job since stepping down as England manager.
The 53-year-old resigned from his role as Three Lions boss in the wake of their Euro 2024 final defeat to Spain.
Southgate, who took charge of the national side in 2016 following the sacking of Sam Allardyce, was offered the chance to become a pundit following his efforts on the international stage.
But the former Middlesbrough boss has instead decided to become a technical observer, according to Henry Winter, and will be employed by UEFA until the end of the season.
The role will involve attending matches and analysing games from a coaching perspective before reporting back to European football’s governing body with his observations.
Southgate, along with former West Ham manager David Moyes, will help UEFA spot new trends in football to improve coaching education.
A number of managers have taken part in the project, including Fabio Capello, Avram Grant and Frank de Boer, who were all technical observers at this summer’s European Championship.
