Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs will begin the defense of their back-to-back Super Bowl titles when the new NFL season kicks off Thursday night against the Ravens.
Kansas City will seek to become the first team in the Super Bowl era to win three titles in a row, and Mahomes will look to further his march toward being the best quarterback in league history, if he’s not there already.
Yes, it’s blasphemy to already put him in the category of new Fox analyst Tom Brady, who still owns more than twice as many championship rings as Mahomes by a 7-3 count.
Still, the Chiefs superstar, at just 28, has plenty of years ahead of him to make up that ground, and he already statistically is ahead of the likes of Brady, Joe Montana, Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers or anyone else you’d list in the GOAT conversation.
