Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid has responded to Kadarius Toney’s accusations that the team is lying about his injury status.

Toney missed the Chiefs’ AFC Championship Game on Sunday, a 17-10 win over the Baltimore Ravens, after welcoming a daughter with his partner. Toney was also on the injury report with listed hip/ankle injuries.

In a recent Instagram live video, Toney was heard saying, “I’m not hurt, none of that”. This was widely interpreted as an accusation on Toney’s end that the Chiefs have been lying about his injury.

When asked about this during his appearance on Sports Radio 810 WHB, Reid emphasized that Toney’s injury is “not made up”, and that the third-year wideout “will be back out there” soon.

Toney also missed the Chiefs’ first two playoff games, against the Miami Dolphins and Buffalo Bills, with injuries.

The 25-year-old Toney had a frustrating regular season with the Chiefs, compiling just 27 receptions for 169 yards and a touchdown in 13 games.

The Chiefs will meet Brock Purdy and the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl 58 on Feb. 11, inside the Las Vegas Raiders’ home venue of Allegiant Stadium.
